Cuts, styling, scalp, and loss. Read the loss section carefully โ it's the one where waiting costs you something you can't get back.
HAIR LOSS: THE ONLY THREE THINGS
Minoxidil, Finasterid, Dutasteride. Prescription DHT-blocking medication. Transplant, once the pattern is stable.
Everything else on the market is either conditioning or nothing. Rosemary oil is one small unreplicated study. Biotin does nothing without a real deficiency and interferes with blood tests. "DHT-blocking" shampoo has sixty seconds of contact time.
THE TIMING POINT
Treatment keeps hair far better than it regrows it. Once a follicle has fully miniaturised, nothing brings it back except a transplant. Someone starting at the first sign and someone starting three years later get completely different outcomes from the identical drug.
If you're noticing it, that's the moment. Not after another year of confirming it.
CUTS
Post three photos from three angles when asking. Face shape charts are salon training material from the 1950s โ the principle underneath (counterbalance your dominant proportion) is sound, the rigid six-box taxonomy isn't.
Hair type constrains you more than face shape does. Fine straight hair and thick wavy hair do not do the same things, and most "bad haircut" posts here are a cut copied from someone with different hair.
LONG HAIR
Works on thick, wavy or curly hair with a stable hairline. Fails on fine straight hair and on a receding hairline. The grow-out is 6โ18 months of looking worse and most people quit at month four. Know that before you start.
SCALP
Dandruff is a yeast, not dryness. Ketoconazole or zinc pyrithione, twice a week, left on five minutes โ the leave-on step is the one everybody skips.
